I am excited to announce that Dr. Jay Strack has been nominated for the first ever John C. Maxwell Award and I want to personally ask you to be an encouragement to him!

It has been my privilege to work alongside Dr. Jay Strack at Student Leadership University over the past ten years. I still remember the first time I heard him say, “You will be the same person five years from now except for the people you meet, the books you read, and the places you go.” Since I first wrote that in my SLU 101 syllabus fourteen years ago, my life has been on a whirlwind leadership development track that has included starting, running and expanding new divisions at SLU, overseeing our staff, co-editing Impact: the Student Leadership Bible, writing three books, earning two master’s degrees, a Ph.D. and speaking all over the world. I can honestly say that Dr. Jay was the catalyst in my life to understanding a vision for what could be accomplished through my life for the glory of God.

I am one of over 100,000 students that have sat in the same chair and written the same words, “I will be the same person five years from now except for…” Throughout the almost twenty years since Student Leadership University was conceived, Dr. Jay has labored year after year, summer after summer, with one end in mind: change the world one student leader at a time. With his education, communication skills, publishing accomplishments and influence most would have aspired to train those who could write big checks to capture an afternoon of training; Dr. Jay chose a different path. His path, or rather vision for how to maximize his influence, was to engage a different audience who couldn’t write big checks or even provide glamorous accolades. The product of this path or vision was the organization that is Student Leadership University. Why? Because Jay Strack has recognized the incredible capacity and lasting fruit that is the present generation.

It is a great honor to announce that Dr. Jay has been nominated for his influence with the first ever John C. Maxwell Award. Dr. Jay Strack is in the top 3 finalists for the John Maxwell Award for the Family/Youth Division. This award will recognize and honor 10 exceptional leaders whose achievements and contributions qualify them as outstanding leaders in their professions. Part of the nomination review process is an interview with the nominee, and a review of comments left by others on Dr. Jay's leadership.  Judges take into consideration the comments left about Dr. Jay and his leadership as part of the review process when selecting the award winners.

I am asking you to visit www.johncmaxwellawards.com and leave comments to congratulate and encourage Dr. Jay for this nomination. The more comments he receives the better his chances are at winning the award so please feel free to forward this message on to anyone who has a relationship with SLU.

Thank you for your time and Happy New Year!
