In these final weeks of summer heat I know you are recuperating from an exhausting summer of ministry and mission events. (Im leaving tomorrow for my 12th trip of the summer with SLU students going to China).

As you begin preparing for your launch of a new school year and for many a new church year, I wanted to share with you a strategy that hundreds of churches and schools have used for over a decade. From the very beginning Rock the Universe was was designed and scheduled to help kickoff the school year with a bang. A time to rally the troops and to encourage them to invite scores of their unchurched friends for a time of music, worship and hearing the gospel.

In the beginning Rock the Universe was only one night, but due to the high demand and input from youth pastors it was extended to a Friday and Saturday night. This allowed a great deal of flexibility, so that if your local high school had a home game, it still provided a night to help ignite your youth group for the new year.

Where else can your students hear Jeremy Camp, Switchfoot, Tenth Avenue North, Tobymac, Group 1 Crew, Family Force Five and others top Christian artist in addition to hearing outstanding testimonies and an opportunity to respond during a candlelight service.

Im so grateful that Universal Studios not only sponsors the Youth Pastor Summit for over 2,000 of us each year to sharpen our tools & refuel our tanks, but they allow us to have access to the two most exciting theme parks for teenagers in America and let us use it for a key part of our youth strategy. I hope you will join me and thousands of others Sept. 7 & 8, 2012 at Rock the Universe

If my office can help you get tickets, please let me know.
