I love teaching and preaching the Bible. Additionally I enjoy listening to a wide variety of Bible communicators as they seek to download truth through the spoken word. It is a sacred responsibility that I believe carries with it consequences when not executed properly (1Timothy 5:17; James 3:1). With that in mind I would like to urge all those who dare to take up the task of teaching students the Bible with five often-overlookedmildly-misunderstoodneglected-but-needed ideas.
1. The priesthood of all believers
I struggle to find any more important idea for the Christian to grasp than the priesthood of all believers. 1 Peter 2:9 declares, You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness and into his marvelous light (ESV). This one idea informs virtually every aspect of the Christian life. We understand our relationship with God, status because of Gods love, responsibility to God mission, and worship before Gods presence all because of the priesthood of all believers.
