Frequently Asked Questions
Before Attending SLU 301: All attendees under the age of 18 must have completed the SLU 101 and SLU 201 program before attending SLU 301. We also recommend spreading the experiences out and not completing them in the same summers when possible. Chaperones must be 18 or older to attend.
Age Requirements: There is not an age limit on SLU 301 attendees. The only requirement is that a student who is under 17 must attend with an adult chaperone. Many students attend while they are in college or have graduated, and other students attend with an adult family member.
Families are Welcome! We encourage adult family members to take the opportunity to attend SLU 301 with their students. Siblings may attend if they are over 18, as we do not accept students under the age of 18 who have not attended SLU 101 and SLU 201. Please know that we will do a lot of walking and this trip is physically demanding. Please be prepared to participate in 100% of the experience as an adult chaperone
SLU encourages families and parents to travel together to our international trips. These trips are life-transforming and are a wonderful way to build memories together as well as for you and your children to grow together in faith and in setting goals for the future. We do not accept students under the age of 18 who have not attended SLU 101 and SLU 201. Parents who enroll in 301 must agree to abide by the same rules and schedule as all other 301 participants. Parents, families or friends may not come to “part” of the SLU 301 experience, but they can enroll as full participants.
You have two options for registering you and your students for SLU 301. Either is fine with us – we just want you to be able to do what is best and easiest for you. Either option below will ensure your groups are put on the same bus and in the same hotel as long as you fill in the same group name during registration.
- Register as one Group via our online form: This means your church/organization is paying SLU for everyone in your group. You can only register this way through our online form. You will need to download and fill out this spreadsheet completely for each member of your group and submit in the provided portal. Please note that you will be held accountable for the registration terms if you register this way (even though you don’t “sign” the terms as you do on our registration site). Go here to make sure you understand the trip terms. If you have any questions, please email us at registration@studentleadership.net.
- Register as an Individual or Family through our website: You will choose this option if everyone in your group is paying separately. We can still keep your group together on the same bus and at the same hotel, but you don’t have to handle the payments as a group. Just have your students enter the same group name when prompted so we know to keep you together.
Entry requirements for countries are constantly updated due to regulations surrounding COVID-19. It is believed that a COVID-19 vaccine will be required for entry. Please note: this is not an SLU requirement, but a requirement of the government of the countries to which we are traveling. You are signing up for this trip knowing that is a possibility. If you are unable to receive a vaccine before the trip, you will still be subject to the terms of the cancellation policy. Any updates to entry requirements will be communicated to all registered attendees.
Passport: Everyone registered for SLU 301 will need a passport. The passport must be valid for six months after the completion of the trip and have two blank pages. You will need to submit your passport number 120 days prior to your trip, so we recommend you apply for your passport immediately, if you do not have one. To enter your passport information- login to your account, select registration, and then select edit attendee.
Visa: US passport holders are not currently required to obtain a VISA before traveling to the UK or France. If you will be traveling on SLU 301 with a passport from a country other than the US, it is your responsibility to confirm the specific requirements by both the UK and France regarding the passport you hold and obtain a VISA in advance, if necessary.
A $350 deposit is due at the time of registration, and an additional $750 is due on February 18, 2022. The remaining balance is due on April 18, 2022. Any registration not paid in full by this day will incur a $25 late fee. You have the following options for your registration payments:
- Paper Checks: You can mail these to our office (SLU, 7380 West Sand Lake Road, Suite 500, Orlando, FL 32819. Checks must be received within ten days of registration.
- Credit Cards: You can use AMEX, VISA, MC, or Discover. A 3% transaction fee will be added to any credit card payments.
- If during registration you select one of the designated flight paths provided by SLU (includes specific domestic departure cities), your roundtrip international airfare is included in your registration. However, it is your responsibility to arrange transportation to and from this domestic departure city.
- You need about $120 for meals, tips, and optional soft drinks. You can get British pounds and Euros at a local American Express office in the U.S. or your local bank. Credit cards are also widely accepted and shopping times vary based on the schedule. Included in this suggested $120 is:
- You have two meals you are responsible for at SLU 301: Our dinner meal in Paris and lunch in Oxford (all other meals are covered). We suggest that you bring a minimum of 20 Euros and 15 GBP with you to cover these.
- Coach Driver and Guide Tips: Each participant (students and adults) should plan to bring $80 total for this. Tips can be in any currency, as long as the value adds up to $80, but it is best in US dollars. We will collect all of this money at the beginning of the trip so that we can distribute this to our guides and drivers throughout the trip in both Paris and London.
- Outside of souvenirs, there are some optional opportunities you may want to bring money for:
- You may purchase a ticket to climb the Eiffel Tower while we are in Paris.
- There are optional tours that you may take advantage of during your free time at Oxford, such as the C.S. Lewis walk or The Christ Church, as well as great shopping opportunities, so plan to bring some extra money for this.

SLU does not send your child on these trips; we take your child. We would never risk your child’s safety or our own. We actively watch for updates from the government on security issues or concerns. Should there be a major security issue, the government will alert the public and the airlines will respond accordingly. All travelers should consider registering at https://step.state.gov/step/ through the US Department of State as it allows them to better assist you should an emergency arise either at home or abroad.
